Today we viewed a video and did some brain tracking. We are filling our brains with new learning on these Native American tribes!
We have also had the opportunity to explore some books on specific tribes.
Please share with us 3-4 brain tracks of new learning on Native Americans!

I think that making bols out of grass is so cool.l also think chaseing buffalo of a clif is creative.I thought that the horses were discovered by the native Americans.
ReplyDeleteNative Americans lived in the United States for a long time before Christopher Columbus discovered America. Native Americans enjoyed sports and games just like everyone else.There were many different Native American tribes.

ReplyDeleteI thought the houses made out of clay were cool. And how one tribe used tar to patch holes in there boats. I also liked that some houses were made out of mud and grass. I thought It was weird how one tribe grew tobacco.
ReplyDeleteI know the Comanche Indians eat and ware lots of buffalo. Buffalo was the Comanches favorite meal of all time. We all learned in the video that horses came from Spain.
ReplyDeleteThe Koiwas ate buffalo the most but they also ate antelope bunnys and more.The Koiwas drank warm animal blood because they believed it was good for them.They would not eat dogs or wild birds unless if they were staving.

DeleteI think it is cool that they chase buffalo off a cliff to kill them.They didn't waste any of the buffalo. They used it for clothing and food. I wonder why they traded prisoners. I think it's cool how they make their houses out of sticks, grass, and mud.

DeleteThe coahuiltecans thought that when a fish had flies and bugs on it, it was ready to eat! Another surprising fact was that when a child from the tribe was becoming an adult, they would get tattooed. I learned from the video that the cherokee played sports. It was a game similar to lacrosse with more people in it, and fewer rules. The strangest thing I learned about my tribe was when a warrior was killed, his wife would rip off some of their hair, roll around in the dust and hit herself with a flint knife. They must have really liked her husband.
ReplyDeleteThe Kiowa indians made leggings in the winter to ceep warm. This is what they used. They used buffalo skin, antelope skin and deer skin. They decorated it with shells beads and animal teeth. The leggings coved them form hip to feet. I love the Kiowas they are a really fun tribe
ReplyDeleteEach tribe wherever they lived was different and that was interesting. The Caddo Indians they built teepees out of stick and buffalo skin and then they would move and take the teepees with them. Some lived in wood houses that were half below ground and half above ground. These house also had tunnels.
ReplyDeleteI did not know that Comanches grew tobacco on their farms. I like that different tribes built different houses. Its cool that each tribe has its own legends, like the one on the milky way we heard in the library.

I learned a lot during the video.I thot it was pretty cool that the comanches grew tobacco.And it was cool that some houses were shaped oddly.It was cool when thy caught whales.I loved all the cool legends.
ReplyDeleteMy tribe is called the Comanches. The people in my group is Mary Ellie,Avery and me. Most of the tribes eat buffalo the comanches hunt for buffalo and they eat fruit or antelope sometimes if the food is available. The comanches wear buffalo and and the comanche girls wear buffalo skirts. The comanches are very agressive and they are the best hunters. Acording to my comanche packet on page 74 quoted "The Comanche Indians were experts with the bow and arrow." There bows were made from Osage Orange,ash or hickory wood. The comanches were one of the smartest tribes in Texas the were very quick and could set up a teepee in about 1 to 2 minutes!!! Did you know that there horses came from Spain! Speaking of horses, the Comanche Indians owned over 1,000 horses in there tribe!!! The Comanche Indians live close to SouthEast and SouthWest. The comanches would trade corn with other tribes because they were not a farming type of tribe. Well this is my opion not yours acording to me..... COMANCHES ARE THE BEST TRIBE EVER!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that they made baskets out of grass andI like that all of the tribes made different houses in there own way. they never wasted the buffalo because they ate it and they made close out of it.
ReplyDeleteMy tribe are the Kiowa. I learned they use no pottery or baskets. Kiowa made leggings to keep warm.Kiowa hunt a lot of buffalo.🐃
