ReplyDeleteDuring pioneer day we had a lot of fun!!! We shared our journals with our parents. That was my favorite part. I stayed in charector during my singing class.
I couldn't wait to show my parents my journals and my voice thread. I think that the best compliment that I received was when my parents said that they learned a lot of facts. When I set things up I decided to show my family first so that when I read my journal that they would be familiar with the characters. then I showed them my voice thread and then our pioneer wiki

My mom, dad and nana thought pioneer hour was awesome! They loved seeing my class dressed up and hearing about the Oregon trail. I was most proud to share my journals with my family.I liked that we had biscuits to share with everyone with the butter that we made in class. Pioneer hour was really fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI could not wait for Pioneer hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved how everyone dressed up and everyone was unique. I am proud of my journal because I put effort into it. My favorite part of Pioneer hour was showing all of the videos. There were biscuits, beef jerky and butter that we made. I had a great time at Pioneer hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love pioneer hour. It was the best day of school I have ever had. It was so much fun working on our journals, presenting them to our parents, and eating all of our homemade goods. Oh my goodness. There are so many things that I want to tell you about pioneer hour. It was so much fun trying to make butter, then eating it with biscuits, honey, & beef jerky. I hope you will soon be able to go through such a wonderful activity!
ReplyDeleteI loved pioneer hour it was so much fun. My favorite thing about pioneer hour was my pioneer journal because we worked on a long time abut 2 weeks. I loved making butter like the pioneers did back then it was good but very salty. I loved dressing up for pioneer hour to every body was wearing old fashion pioneer clothes. I hoped you liked my report on pioneer day maybe your school should do it some time to.BY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom came and she was very proud of me. It was really fun journaling and taking a lot of notes we had to work A LOT to get to pioneer day but it was really fun. My favorite thing about pioneer hour was that we got to share our journals with the people who came to see us. It was really fun dressing up like pioneers. The beef jerky was really good but the butter not that much. I really loved making our voice thread and comenting on peoples voice thread. I also liked making our kid pix pictures it was really fun doing that. I also liked making the butter it was really fun but my face was really red after I shook the butter. I also liked creating our person and our family for our journal it was really, really fun. We also had fun reading our book. That is where we took all of our notes and thats what we did to learn about the pioneer's. I new nothing about the pioneer's before Ms. O'connell taught us about them. I didn't even know what the Oregon trail or the Utah trail or the California trail or the Sante Fe trail was! I was clueless. The reason people went to Oregon was because there was free land there and it was a really good place to start a new life. The Oregon trail was really dangerous and tiering. There was about sixty wagon's per each wagon train. Some indians were really, really bad and some were just good indians who traded things. If South Pass was not on the Oregon trail than it would have been impossible can you believe that! We journaled for about three weeks it was a really long time to journal. I got to my second journal but some people got to there third WOW! There was thirty two pages in each journal. The reason people went to California was because of the gold rush there. Well I've told you some facts about the Oregon trail I hope you learned something new!
ReplyDeleteI was very excited for Pioneer hour! I couldn't wait to show my mom my voice thread, I had worked really hard at it. My mom loved the interview I did of an Indian. She was very impressed to see my journal and pioneer wiki. I made her try the butter we made and the biscuits. They are delicious.I had a lot of fun.

DeleteI really liked pioneer hour today. The best compliment I got was "great handwriting, Drew". The way things were set up helped me alot because the stuff was very spaced out so I could have room to put my computer and while my parents were watching the video I could get stuff out of the organized stack faster because they were all spread out and I could be 100 percent ready. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

DeleteI am nine to! Here in Houston it is mostly hot and it only snows about once every 4 years. Right now in the spring sometimes it gets really chilly and sometimes it is Burning Hot. I have heard of Call Of Duty but I don't play it.

DeleteMy mom came to Pioneer day and I really think she injoyed it.Because I injoyed it very much.I am so proud of all of my work.My favorite was the jounaling,but I didnt get to finesh because I wrote so much.At Pioneer day we also had awesome biscuits,I had three.There was honey and homemade butter!!! We made it by shaking the jar.At first it was very salty,I did not like it.Then we had to add more heavey wiping cream.After that it was way better.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about pioneer hour was probably showing my mom all that I've been working on.Like my journals i used three.And our pioneer wiki with everything we researched,i researched Fort Laramie it was one of the most popular Forts along the Oregon trail.I also did a school tube video about the Comanche tribe.Also i dd a podcast about Fort Laramie.And i also told my mom how you could comment on people,there were two ways you could comment,You could type like I'm doing right now,or you could speak into a microphone and it would record you.Ad to read the comments you had to click on an icon or picture of something that would be showing next to the video.Also there was pioneer food like homemade biscuits and there was beef jerky,also there was home made butter and the kids which is me and the other class mates made it but it was way to salty.But there was one thing that really disappointed me and that is that my dad didn't come.I also told my mom that i didn't work alone and that my friends Ben,Angus and Even were all helping me.Angus and Ben were my brothers and Even was our cousin.My name for the pioneers was Abraham and Ben's name was Russell And Angus's name was Rubin.I had a lot of fun everyone did pioneer hour was really fun.
ReplyDeleteFor our voice thread we each studied a different landmark and I studied Courthouse rock.When I got to my grand parent's house I showed it off.When my mom told me she wanted to have a biscuit with the butter I told her that my class and I made it and that it was too salty. She smiled and said it was okay.I was glad she said it was great when I gave it to her. That was my great memory of pioneer day.

ReplyDeletefor recess we have 15 minutes and i like to play ball tag and boomer ball and infection.
DeleteIn our classes we mostly do math and reading. On Mondays we go to music and global awareness and then science! On Tuesdays we go again to science and then on Wednesdays we go to music and global awareness again. And then on Thursdays we go to art and on Friday, computer. We have 15 minutes of recess and I like to play with my best friend.

DeletePioneer hour was really fun. I loved the food. It was really cool to have my parents there to see my work. I thought at the beginning of our pioneer unit that my work was not going to be very good, but at the end it was pretty good. My favorite part was journaling. It was very difficult too get all the information, but it was still really fun. I also liked making a script that Sam and I wrote before pioneer hour about the Oregon trail and the Big Blue River.

I knew very little about Houston and the Pioneers but your comments, videos and photos have helped me find more information. I think I'm going to steal the idea of putting videos on your blog.
