Musuem of Fine Arts!!!!

We learned so much on our two field trips to the Museum of Fine Arts! What a privilege for us!  We studied different styles of painting like impressionism, fauvism, pointilism and portraits. Some of us learned about pre-Columbian art and sculpture. One group saw art made by the Hopi Indians! What is one interesting painting, vessel or sculpture you learned about? What was your favorite art that you created at the Glassell School? Why?  Write at least four complete sentences!!!

  1. Well one of my group's last exhibit was a room and on one side of the room there was a glass case full of... STAFFS! The staffs might look like gold but really its wood in disguise. The wood was carved into the staffs and the wood staffs were plated in gold!( Don't tell anybody!)And the favorite art I made was a clay pot thingy.

  4. My favorite piece of pottery art was the vase. It was brown, blue and light pink. We also saw a teal room. It was pretty colorful. In that room there were pots, bowls, sculptures and cool designs. Then we went to another room that had staffs and our tour guide read to us stories that connected to them. We had to guess which staff the story belonged to. Then we got to make pottery. We made pots. My favorite part was when we got to make our own pottery. I had a good time at the art museum.

  5. I created a mug that had a bowl shape and three legs. It had an arch on top and the bottom was swirly. I saw a staff made of a thin layer of gold and underneath it was wood. It had pictures of people and things doing something on it.

  6. When we went to to the museum my favorite thing there was Native American pottery. I loved the geometrical shapes and all the birds. All of them had a different style which made them interesting. I also liked the green duck in the Korean exhibit. It had a lot of detail and I would love to have it in my home. But I still had a great time at the museum. Also when we went to the classroom I made a pot with a dragon head as a handle. I love to make clay things. Overall I loved it.

  12. I saw a lot of paintings, but my favorite one was the staffs. The staffs told stories, and we had to try to guess which staff matched which story. We also saw pottery. After we finished looking at all of the art, we made a clay tripod. I had a good time at the museum, and I hope to go back real soon!!!
