Reflections on Jason Chin

Yesterday, we were given the wonderful opportunity to listen to Jason Chin, a non-fiction author. We loved his books Coral Reefs and Redwoods! He talked to us about how he collects the research for his books, and also how he does his illustrations. What did you find most interesting about his presentation? What were your favorite things he told you? Please write three to four sentences reflecting on his visit and what you learned and found interesting. Please check your capital letters and punctuation.

  1. I really liked his presentation. It was really cool that it only took him one try to publish redwoods. Corel reefs is my favorite book he wrote. It was fun to learn things from his books and things about his books!

  3. I thought it was very cool that his book Redwoods was published on the first try. And that he traveled to the Galapagos Island and saw so many animals that we do not see here in Houston. My favorite book was Gravity.

  5. I learned that their are many to draw, and he did it the way that everyone could see not the way most YouTube videos are made.

  9. I thought that the whole presentation was interesting, but the part that caught my eye the most was when he talked about Coral Reefs The way he told about researching and looking up information for the book was very interesting. I think that it is cool that because he is a nonfiction writer he has to know the right information to put into his books. So after he looked up the information, he got to go scuba diving in Belize. I love visiting authors and I can not wait for the next one to come.

  11. I loved Jason Chin! It is so cool that Jason Chin got to go to the Galapagos and the Coral Reef. I still can not believe that he got Redwoods published in the first time! I am so grateful that we got to see Jason Chin!

  12. What I found interesting is that Jason Chin actually got to go to a coral reef! Also what I found interesting was that the Redwoods book got published in the first try! He must be a good writer. I learned from Jason Chin that redwood trees are more than 300 feet tall. I never Knew that redwood trees could be that tall!

  13. I wonder how does Jason Chin gets specific kind of people to help him with research. I like how Jason Chin travels to get his information instead of looking it up in a book. I also liked hearing about how he was swimming next to a shark. I was happy to hear that it was a friendly shark and not one that will bite your head off. I am excited to read Gravity, Water is Water and Coral Reef.

  14. What I think is interesting is that Jason Chin went to the Belize barrier reef and saw a shark! But it turned out to be a nurse shark.
He also went to the Galapagos islands and got face to face with a seal and blew bubbles at it and the seal blew bubbles back. I still can't believe the fact that he got his book redwoods published on the first try.

  15. I thought that seeing that shark was interesting when he showed us the picture of it it was cool. And just being in the coral reef was awesome because it is like 15,000 square miles. And it is cool to go scuba diving because I did it at camp.
