Today we discussed the difference between plot and theme. The plot is the events in the story and the theme is the message the author is trying to get across to the reader. We focused on the different themes, messages or big ideas from our book Cheyenne Again. Please write about some of the themes you discovered in your reading with your partners or what we read-aloud and give examples. For example, one theme was treating the Indians unfairly in school when they taught them lies or left out important facts about their culture and some of the battles they had won. Please write the theme and the reason you think that. Write four to five sentences with the correct punctuation.

I think that the book is about Raceisem. He loses his family in this book.THEY PUT ABALL AND ACHAIN AROUND HIS FOOT!!!!Only one teacher is nice to him.
ReplyDeleteThis book is about Young bull, a ten year-old native american indian.
ReplyDeleteYoung bull is taken by the taking man to a boarding school to be taught the white man's ways. The themes of the book are racism and imperialism. Young bull is treated unkindly by the white men just because he was an indian. For imperialism, the white men believed their culture is better than the indians.
This book is about Young bull, age ten and he gets taken away from his family.I think the theme of the book is Racism. They don't put Indian culture in his books because they lost those wars.
ReplyDeleteThe author wants the reader to think about treating people fairly. The color of your skin is not important. Another theme is family. He wants to get back to his brothers.
ReplyDeleteCheyenne Again is about a boy named Youngbull who has to be seperated from his family to go to school, but it is not what it seems like. They say that he has to forget about being an Indian and they cut his braids. When he tried to run away, THEY LOCKED A BALL AND CHAIN AROUND HIS ANKLE. There is this one teacher though, who is kind to him. She says that he should not let his teachers take away his dreams of being Cheyenne again.
ReplyDeleteI think the theme is racism and kindness. The story was about a boy named young bull. He is ten and got separated from his family and got taken from the taking man. He was sent to go to a boarding school. They cut his braids and took away his clothes and he had to wear clothes made out of cotton. One time he tried to run away but he got caught by the hunters and the hunters took him back to the boarding school. The boarding school pays $5 for every run away. And since he ran away he got A BALL AND CHAIN TIED TO HIS ANKLE for one day. But there was one nice and kind teacher she said don’t let us take away the memories and dreams. CHEYENNE AGAIN
ReplyDeleteCheyenne again is when a 10 year old boy named young bull has to go to boarding school. Young bull does not like boarding school. He misses his brothers. He tries to run away but they catch him. they but a ball and chain around his ankle but there is one nice teacher who says don't let us take away your memories. I think the theme is racism.
ReplyDeleteI think the themes are racism emapathy and kidness. The story Cheyenne Again is a story about a 10 year old boy named Young Bull and someone one day calledhe w The Taking Man came to take kids to boarding school but the kids must be 10.So the man took Young Bull. His mom cried "RUN!RUN!HIDE!", but his dad said "He must go this is a white mans world you must learn a white mans way, and the corn is going dry they will have food is this place called school". So off went Young Bull to the train tracks where the train will take him so he would arrive at the bording school. So he arrived and they showed him around the school. Then they cut his brades and took his clothes his mother made him, they took them off and made him and put on a blue button down shirt made of cotten. One day he ran away they have to pay 5$ for any run away but the hunters found him and took him back to bording school and for a punishment he had to whare a metle ball and chain on his ankle for one day.But there was one nice teacher and she gave him ontment for his ankle after he got the ball nd chain off and she told him not to let them take away his memories. CHEYENNE AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteI think the theme is racism. its a story about a kid named Young Bull.He is forced to leave everything behind and go to to a school. He doesn't like his school he has one teacher he likes. He tried to escape but he got caught and had a metal ball and chain on his ankle for one day.

DeleteI think the themes in Cheyenne Again are racism and kindness. We learned about racism and that the American people did not treat the Cheyenne tribe nicely. We learned about kindness and that the only nice teacher put medicine on Young Bull's leg because he ran away and put a bowling ball on his leg for a day. I love Cheyenne Again!!
ReplyDeleteI think the themes are racism and kindness.it is about a boy named YoungBull. He is forced to leave everything behind, including his family. He has to go to a boarding school. He tries to run away but he gets caught in a blizzard. They find him. They tie a ball and chain around his ankle for one day.
ReplyDeleteContinued...They were mean to him because he was an Indian, and that is racism. There was a teacher who said "YOU WANT TO BE DUMB INDIAN ALL YOUR LIFE!!" also racism.
ReplyDeleteThe artuhor wants the reader to think about treating other people fairly
ReplyDelete. The color of the skin dent matter. Why would the not let him see he's brother . Why would they put a ball and chain on him.You can just follow him around.

ReplyDeleteChyane Agains theam is racism. The book shows the diffrens of doing the right thing and thinking you are doing the right thing. The father said ''Its the white mans world, he must do the white mans way. Another theam is unkindness becase when he runs away, they put a ball and chain to his ankle. This book shows the thing white people did was wrong!
