As we all know, both fractions and decimals represent parts of a whole. Which do you see more in your everyday life...fractions or decimals? Please give some examples. Do you think fractions or decimals are more useful? Please share your thoughts. Write four to five sentences about fractions or decimals or both. Use complete sentences with the correct grammar and punctuation. Have fun and be creative.

  3. I think using fractions of something is easier and I see it more. It is easier to say "you get 1/2 of the pizza" instead of using "you get 0.5 of the pizza". Fractions make it easy to divide things equally. I use fractions more because my brother has type one diabetes. We them to calculate carbohydrates.

  7. I see more decimals than fractions because whenever we go to any store the prices are shown everywhere and they are shown in decimals, such as $5.00 or $6.66 and $4.55. I think they are both very useful. I think they are both equally useful. Decimals are more exact. When cooking we use more fractions. I like them both the same.

  8. I see fractions more than I see decimals. I see fractions a lot when I'm baking with my mom on the teaspoons and the measuring cups. I think fractions are more useful because they can help you with cooking. We have a fraction museum in our classroom, and not a decimal museum. 🍰

  10. I use fractions more. When talking, people use fractions more than decimals and so they are more likely to know what i'm saying. Adding decimals together may make you think more. You may also have to use more syllables.

  12. I see fractions as the same as decimals. Like for instance, I see decimals in money. And, in fractions, I see them in measuring cups and cook books. I see both of them every single day. I have a lot of fun with decimals and fractions.

  13. I think that fractions and decimals are used the same amount of time. In baseball we say we have won 2 out of 3 games. when I buy something it can cost $1.50. In cooking my mom uses fractions for measuring. When we go on trips we can say we are 1/2 of the way there. Money is probably the most used for decimals.

  14. I see fractions a bit more than decimals. I bake a lot with my mom and when I measure out ingredients I use fractions, for example, 3 1/2 cups of flour. When we go to the store we use decimals for money to calculate change. For example, I bought a candy bar for $1.29 but I had a $2.00. My change would be .71 cents.

  15. I see fractions more in my everyday life. I see fractions when I am measuring in Mrs. Bittner's class, I also see fractions when I am eating pizza because if the pizza has 8 slices and you have one of the pieces then you would have eaten 1/8 of the slices of pizza. I think decimals are more useful because of money for example if we didn't have decimals there would be no way to right the cents in the money. that is why I think decimals are more important than fractions.

  17. I see fractions more than decimals. I see them in cook books, measuring cups, and rulers. I also see fractions when i eat something. Like lets say pizza. There were 4 people and there was a whole pizza. We had to cut it into fourths. So everyone got 1/4. I think both have the same amount of use its just you see fractions more often.
