Winter Break

It's so exciting! Winter break is near! What are your plans? What are you looking forward to most? Are you traveling or staying in Houston? If you celebrate Christmas, what are some of your family's traditions you look forward to every year? If you celebrate Hanukkah, what are some of your traditions? I can't wait to hear what each of you have planned!

  1. I am going to Cabo San Lucas!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to go. Our traditions are waiting for our dad to get home before we light the menorah. Then we sprint into the living room to get our present. I always choose the biggest present for the first and last night of Hanukkah. I usually get two presents a night. Hanukkah lasts for eight nights. Me and my sister Samantha light our own menorahs. Samantha has a menorah that looks like NYC and has the statue of liberty and the Broadway sign and a lot of other things. And mine has little people and in front of them are shoes to hold the candles.

  2. I'm staying here for the break. But my cousins are coming from Seattle. I'm most excited about my cousins coming because one of them is my age and I'm older than all of my other cousins. Every Christmas morning we open presents at are house and we go to our grandparents house and open some there.

  8. Yes I am very excited for winter brake! Me and my family are going on a Disney cruse! The most exciting part for me is getting off the boat. If you are wondering why, I am scared of sinking but the rest of it I am excited about. I am jewish so I celebrate Chanukah. Our traditions are eating chocolate coins, saying the Chanukah prayer, we all get to light the candles, we open one present a night, and my mommy makes potato latkes.

  9. My family doesn't really have anything planed, but if we had to go somewhere we would go to North Carolina to celebrate Christmas with my uncles. But mostly I think I'm going to stay in Houston and draw, read and do other stuff. Im not much of a girly girl but some of my friends like to have :shakes 2 fingers up and down: tea parties. Do i like to? No. But can i be a good friend and always do what they want to do? Yes. I'll have birthday's to go to, and my birthday is coming up in January 16. I'll maybe have friends over and have Pokemon battles with our cards. If you find me at my house one day you'll probably find me looking at my Pokemon cards. Im addicted. πŸ€‘ Eevee is one of my favorites or either Pikachu or a Gyarndos and a Charzard. I'll be have tons of fun this up coming week. I'll see you all back in January!😁

  11. I'm exited for Christmas. I am going to stay in Houston. I am glad I Finally have a break because even on the weekends I don't have a break. My dad is in Korea and he missed my birthday and Christmas. Even though I have a break I still have violin. I think I made it to "Santa's good list"!

  15. I am REALLY excited to go to California for ChristmasπŸŽ„!!! Our family tradition is to celebrate Christmas and open presents twice! Once on the 24th and the other on the 25th. First in California then in Texas depending on what day Christmas is on. When we are in California, my grandmother, Mormor, cooks a traditional Danish Christmas, which has my favorite Danish pork sausage called medisterpolse, duck roast and pork roast with crispy pork skin. My sister loves the crispy skin! We sing Christmas carols in Danish and in English. We eat rice pudding with one hidden almond in it. The person who finds the almond wins an extra christmas present. While at my grandparents' (mormor and morfar's) house, Santa Claus always comes through the glass patio door caring presents in a white cloth bag and hands them to us. Another family tradition is that we go snow sledding on toboggans. It's so FUN!! We some times have snowball fights and build a snowman ☃️ if the snow is soft and fresh. Last year it did not snow much so we went to Queen Mary in Long Beach to go ice tubing instead. When we are in Texas, we read from the bible, then my sister and I play Christmas songs on the piano and we all sing Christmas songs before opening presents.

I might go to my ranch for a couple nights but not christmas!πŸŽ„ I am going to my grand mothers house for christmas and christmas eve. My family rarely goes out of town for christmas. But this christmas only 3/9 familys will be there. That means we can't do white elephant this year and we can barely do secret santa.
