Native Americans

 
 
 Friends,
Yesterday we viewed a video and did some brain tracking. We are filling our brains with new learning on these Native American tribes!

Today you had the opportunity to explore some books on specific tribes. 

Please share with us 3-4 brain tracks from either yesterday or today!

  1. NL the first 5 tribes of Texas were the Jumano ,Caddo ,Atakapa, Karankawa& the Counuiltaran. NL Most Texas was not owned by these tribes.NL alligator grease is a mosquito repellent worn by some tribes.

  2. I learned that depending on what they ate or what time of year it was determined what kind of house they lived in. If they traveled with buffalo herds they lived in teepees. If the tribe doesn't travel in winter they'll live in small round houses that keep in the heat. In summer they'll live in big square houses.

  3. I learned that indians hunted and ate coyote, javelina, bear, jackrabbit, buffalo, beaver, and fox. I also learned that indians have no religion so they pray to the sun! And I learned that 800-1,000 people are in one village!

  4. NL glaciers covered most of north America.
    NL a land brig connected Asia to Alaska.
    NL people made spars out of wood and flint.

  5. BK People call Native Americans Indians because Columbus thought he was in the Indies when he reached land.
    NL Native Americans came from Asia on a land bridge.
    NL A long time ago, the land bridge formed because the water level in the ocean dropped.

  6. There were many different tribes in Texas. The Caddo Indians built their villages in the piney woods area of east Texas near the Louisiana border. They rode on horses. 🐴

  7. I learned that the native Americans pierced their noses and ears. What they do most is practice tattooing each other. They were the first people in America. 😱🤓

  8. I learned that four hundred years ago indians were the only people who lived in Texas. Indians did not write stories about themselves because they didn't have an alphabet! The indians are called indians because of Christopher Columbus. The tribes worked together

  9. Here are 4 facts about the natives. 1. respected nature. 2. they came form Asia. 3. each tribe had differed houses. Last but not least number
    75% of their diet was plants.

  10. I learned about the cherokee on my trip to Alaska. They had a big respect for nature. They ate different types of meats,for example,deer,bear and turkey. All tribes had a chief. The natives came on a land bridge in the Berring sea. It connected Asia to America.

  11. NL I learned that the Native Americans are actually from Asia. They traveled on a land bridge to North America. The bridge was formed by the ocean water level dropping.
    NL The Native Americans built different types of houses for different seasons. For example, in the winter some tribes built small coned shaped houses, and in the summer they would build bigger rectangular houses.
    BK The Native Americans were mistakenly called Indians by Christopher Columbus because he got lost and thought he landed in India. He was on the wrong continent and he didn't even know it.

  12. I learned that natives came from Asia on a land bridge.I already learned
    that Christopher Columbus called the natives Indian because he thought he was in the east Indies.the natives had really cared about
    nature.I cant believe that 12 Caddo people can just live in one hut.Some people in america set up a fake forest and made animals come in and hunted them!

  13. One of my brain tracks is that Native Amaricans are called Indians because of Cristipher Colubuses big mistake. I also learned that they have villages and in the villages there are 300-400 houses. One of my favorite ones is that they had to learn to survive with there surroundings. I also thought that it was cool that they hunted and grew to eat. I hope that l learn a lot more about Indians.

  14. The Indians treat nature as their own. They built their own villages. Native Americans have different types of houses during the winter and summer. The houses are shaped like a cone in the winter and a box in the summer. They would kill buffalos and use their skin to make the houses and clothing. The Indians would eat the meat from the buffalos. They would kill the buffalos with spears made from sticks and bow and arrows made from rope.

  15. I personally didn't know ANYTHING about native americans when we first started this unit. Native americans would respect nature and there version of lacrosse they had smaller sticks and they called it "little war". the cherice had 2 different kinds of houses, one for winter and one for summer

  16. I learned that indians killed wolves for food and to eat them. They also ate salmon. They also killed deer to eat and used their fur. Indians lived in houses made out clay, dirt and bark. They had teepees in the summer and built the houses in the winter.

  17. I have learned that the spanish had brought horses to the Indians.And that they had great respect for nature. I also learned that a skull of a women that is over 8000 years old.They also make territories out of wood (tree bark). And that tribes are like families.

  18. I learned that the Indians had houses For winter and summer. They killed animals for food. They used what was around them to make and use things for their every day life. Each tribe has their own style house.
