Pioneer Day Reflections

We had wonderful time sharing our Westward Expansion projects and work yesterday! I am curious. What was your favorite activity that we did during this unit? Was is the journal, the iMovie, QRcode with audio and video, reading Joshua and Hattie's journals, or brain tracking?
Please give a detailed explanation about what you liked or did not enjoy as much. Maybe you'll influence how we explore pioneer life next year!  Write four to five complete sentences. Check your punctuation.

  2. Personally my favorite was when I got to work with Penelope on the iMovie. I really liked shaking a can of whipping cream and salt to make butter! I also liked working with Haylie in the packet for the book "If you traveled west in a covered wagon." And I loved dressing up as a Pioneer!

  3. My favorite was the journal I liked having adventures even if they weren't real! When I was writing in my journal it really felt real! Sometimes I really got carried away and really thought I was Pearl Ross on the Oregon trial! I actually liked everything but if I had to pick it would be brain tracking!

  4. My favorite part of our pioneers unit was sharing our presentation because you've worked so hard on your journal and iMovie and in the end you know ll the hard work was sooo worth it! I also loved making the butter just because we got to go crazy making it!!! I also had a little bit of fun doing the citations! I especially loved the pictures we did! It was sort of hard to act so serious when you have the funniest teacher in the school!

  6. My favorite part was the end because we did all of that hard work and then we got to show it to our parents but my very favorite was the journal. I like to write about the journey to Oregon, and all of the things that happen to them along the way. I liked writing about when they were having celebrations and crossing rivers. Overall, I think it was all worth the hard work. I hope everyone enjoyed it too!

  7. My favorite part of this unit was eating and making the butter. It is amazing how the pioneers made the sour milk and tied it to the wagon. Since the wagon was so bumpy, the sour milk soon turned in to butter. Also, my second favorite thing is making the iMovie trailer. I did with John and I think it was so fun. We did it on hunting on the Oregon Trail.

  8. I loved journaling, making butter, and showing our parents are work! Why I liked journaling because we got to see a pioneer's vision on the Oregon Trail. Why I liked making butter because it was so much fun when we got to shake it! Why I liked showing our parents because we got to show our parents our hard work that took forever!!!!:D

  9. My favorite part about this unit was making butter. We had to put our energy in it when we were shaking it. I found it really neat that you found your own recipe to make butter but the reason the pioneers found that out was that they put milk on the sides of the wagon and since it was super bumpy it make milk.

  10. A fun part of pioneer unit was journaling. It was fun to learn about pioneers in a more creative way than just reading a text book. I liked reading Hattie's journal too. But my very favorite part was our presentation. It felt good to have people know how hard we worked. Basically pioneer day was all great!:)

  11. My favorite part was making the butter and trying it with the biscuits. I liked when we made the butter and shook it which was the competitive part. We had a face off against each table. My second favorite part was writing in our journals. Some people wrote more than 1 journal. My third favorite was making our I movies. It was fun.

  13. My favorite thing about Pioneer Fair is that we got to write a journal about their everyday life. I also enjoyed making butter with my classmates. We put milk into a small jar and shook it really hard. When pioneers made butter they poured milk into a bucket and hung it on their wagon. Because Oregon trail was bumpy it shook the milk and in a few hours later they had butter. My second favorite part was making a I-movie with my partner Lilly. We made it about daily routines of pioneers. All in all I think it was worth the hard work. It was so much fun!

  14. My favorite thing that we did was the iMovie, Hattie's Journal, and the journal. The journal was my favorite because we got to study all the landmarks. The iMovie was my favorite because we got to create it on our own with a partner. And I liked Hattie's journal because it was more explanatory than Joshua's. I didn't like Joshua's journal because it didn't really explain that much for me. It passed four days each time, and sometimes they wouldn't explain what it looked like they only explained some of the landmarks but not all of them.
