Words have Power!!!

On Monday, Mrs. Babine spoke to the third and fourth grade about the power of words. We discussed our core values and how we have a responsibility to use our words respectfully and with kindness. Please share an example of how words have power. Have you ever been lifted up by someone’s words? Have you lifted another person up with your words? Please share a way to use your words for good or how another person has helped you with their words. Please write 4 to 5 complete sentences using the correct grammar and punctuation.

  1. Words do have power! Here is an example. When people say I'm sorry I feel good to know that they are. But when people say it's notmy fault it makes me mad that they won't say sorry.

    1. I think that words have power. For example if you say why did you miss that goal you could have made that. Its probably going to make them feel bad. If you say nice try you were so close. Its going to make them confident .

  4. Words can be hurtful but they won't hurt you physically. For example have you heard the saying "sticks and stones can brake my bones but words can never hurt me." and the golden rule" treat others the way you want to be treated. I learned that from my mom. And I learned from Ivy that" you could say something to one person but it could mean a totally different thing another.

  7. You should be weary about words. Because you could make someone be your best friend or you could hurt someone. You could do that with one sentence. Also you it matters how you say something, don't say something in rude voice. Instead say it a more nicer tone. One time Griffin lifted me up by saying "nice job" to me.

  8. Words are very very powerful! They can build a relationship and destroy a relationship. Also they can affect you think of a person. Like if the person says mean words you will think of them as bully. But if they says nice words you will think of them as a friend. Also word are very hurtful. Like if you say someone is terrible at math they will probably get really sad. One more thing is once you say something mean you can never take it back! So be careful what you say! Peace out!!! :D

  9. Words are very powerful. You have to think before you use them. They can inspire you, but they can also make you feel bad and hurt your feelings. For example, say I told someone that they could do it no matter how hard it was and how scared they might be. That would be lifting someone up and inspiring and motivating them. I have friend, Savanah, who is on my soft ball team. She plays pitcher and I play 1st base. Whenever it is our turn to play defence, she always tells me that we can do this. We have played 5 games and we have won 5 games partly because we have confidence in our words and that we use kind and powerful words!

  10. Words are very powerful! Like if I miss a football that was thrown perfectly my best friend Aaron would say maybe you can't catch with that ball and all the other kids say "I told you! You should not pass it to him because he can not catch." I would feel bad. But what Aaron said was much nicer.

  12. Words are powerful! Words can be used in negative or positive ways. Positive example in baseball when the short stop caught my ball everybody said that it was a good hit but that it just went the wrong way. I really like it when people said nice things about me.

  13. Words can have incredible power in our lives. If you say something mean to somebody they feel bad. But if you say something good to somebody they feel good. I felt good when it was my first time skiing and my dad said I could do it. And if you say no offence to somebody you probably would offend them. :D
