Making Butter for Pioneer Hour!!!

Shake Shake Shake!!!
Angus, You need to take a breath!!!
That was really fun making butter like the pioneers did in the mid 1800's.  What was your favorite part of making butter.  Write 3 to 4 complete sentences about making butter and also include the second way the pioneers made butter while traveling in their wagons.  Also write about what you looking forward to at Pioneer Hour?

  4. I loved making butter because we got to shake the jar. To make butter we used salt and milk with some cream in it. It was really salty!!!!!! When pioneers made butter they would do the same thing but instead the would hang the jar to the wagon since it was bumpy it would shake around and you would have butter!!!!!!!!!!

  5. HI my favorite part about making the butter was shaking it to be solid butter. I would always try to be last so I would have to hold the heaviest part of it.It was also funny the way that people would shake the butter. We had a great time doing it.I think the pioneers did it the same way as us and sometimes they hooked it to their wagon so it would shake while the wagon moved.I am looking forward to pioneer hour because I can show my pioneer journal to my parents.

  6. My favorite part of making butter was shaking the jar to get the butter.Because you can
move your arm in many different ways,it was very fun. There is also another way Pioneers made butter. They would attach the can of butter to the wagon with a rope, and that would make the butter shake.

  7. I had an especially fun to make making butter. Shaking the jar by moving your arms in all sorts of directions to try to turn it into butter was an extremely fun activity. But that was not the only way that pioneers made butter, they would attach the barrel of soon to be butter with a rope to the wagon, and all of the bumps on the Oregon trail shook the barrel, and by the time they stopped to rest it had turned into butter!
" It was really salty when we did it!"

  8. I like to shake the butter! The only thing that could keep me on track was to nod my head and say SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!in my head. What the pioneers did to make butter was simple. All you had to do was put the ingredients in a jar and tie it to the wagon and the ingredients would mix on the bumpy road. What I am looking forward to do on pioneer day is to wear my pioneer day outfit to school!!!

  9. Making the butter was a lot of fun. When we first got the jar it was just heavy whipping cream and salt. When we were making the butter, we passed the jar around and shook the jar as hard as we could. Soon, the mixture had turned into solid butter. When we tasted it, it was very salty. I had so much fun acting like the pioneers and making butter. The pioneers made butter by putting milk in a bucket and then they hung the bucket to the wagon hoops. The wagon would bump and bounce along so by the end of the day the milk was at least an inch-thick ball of butter. I am looking forward to showing my family what I learned.

  10. I had a lot of fun making the butter. At first I thought it would just stay like that but in the end it turned out to be butter.Another way the pioneers mada butter was by hanging a bottle of whipping cream and salt on the wagon hoops. The trail was so bumpy that by the end of the day it turned into butter.I look forward to showing my parents my voicethread.

  11. I was so fun to shake it up to make butter. I saw angus hold his breath and everyone said "breathe breathe". I'm looking forward to showing my mom my pioneer book. My mom is going to think it is really cool. There is a lot of action in it.

  12. The other way that pioneers made butter is by putting it on a string in a jar. The trail was so bumpy that the butter churned it's self.During pioneer hour I am looking forward to making biscits.

  16. Butter! Butter! Butter! Fun! Fun! Fun! Exstuhsting! Exstuhsting! Exstuhsting! Making butter was exstuhsting but the fun paid off for it. On the oregon trail pioneers would hang a bucket of milk in there wagon in the morning and in the afternoon the milk had been so shaken up that it had turned to butter! I've got to say that my favorite thing about making butter was shacking the jar of milk. It was so much fun! If you want to make butter I'll give you the ingredients salt, heavy whipping cream and salt have fun. Also when we tried the butter only Matthew and me liked it weird. Bye.

We really enjoyed reading your cool comments about making butter. Here in Scotland we don't really know anything about the pioneers. If you would be able to tell us more, that would be wonderful!

Making the butter was really fun and the tasting it was to but i think it was to salty.I loved shaking it it really wore out my arm but it was worth it.And after we tasted it and everyone thought it was to salty Mrs.O'Connell put some more of that cream in the butter and we put in the fridge and its still in their freezing. Also Mrs.Fain was their and she would check it and tell us if it was butter. We had a lot of fun.
